The Winding Path to Wild Heart Wellness
The path to Wild Heart Wellness has taken many turns along the way, in fact a few times it has even changed directions entirely! But aren’t the best adventures the ones through narrow trails? The off-trail routes with low branches hanging overhead and knobby roots to navigate underfoot?
What Kate Believes
As a western NY native, Kate spent the happiest days of her childhood romping around the Adirondack and Catskill mountains with her Dad, looking for birds, beaver dams, and any water warm enough to jump into. It was in this manner she discovered what would later become her foundational truth for Wild Heart Wellness: that human beings are happier and healthier when they are moving fully and freely in their favorite places.
After graduating from St. Lawrence University with a degree in Lingustic Anthropology, Kate packed her bags and headed to South America. In Buenos Aires, Kate discovered the powerful, healing practice of yoga. Sometimes attending 2-3 classes per day, Kate fell in love with the art of breath work, meditation, and the slow-and-steady power that grows as asana practice develops. Upon returning to the U.S. in 2011, Kate enrolled at Healing Mountain Massage School in Salt Lake City and registered for Marianne Wells School of Yoga teacher training in Costa Rica with a clear vision for sharing the healing benefits of bodywork and yoga with others. Over the next two years, Kate would throw herself into the study of anatomy, physiology, meditation, Ayurveda, and the life-changing art of self-care.
Kate spent three years working at the prestigious Align Wellness Center in Park City, Utah, which specializes in Therapeutic Massage for all types of people. During this time, she pursued further education in myriad massage modalities, including but not limited to Sports Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release Therapy, and Cranio-Sacral Therapy. In 2015 Kate packed up again and moved back to Western NY (her home!) After continuing her education at Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage in Rochester, NY, she took a leap and opened Wild Heart Wellness in 2017 where she presently offers restorative massage and yoga therapy. Kate is always reaching for new information and techniques to help her clients, and is currently studying to be an Ayurvedic Practitioner.
